CLUB EVALUATION FAQ

General Evaluation Information

 • What are Technical Soccer Club evaluations? 

  • Evaluations are player observations used to help place athletes into the appropriate academy environment and team level for the upcoming season.

• Who should attend evaluations? 

  • Any player interested in participating in the Development Academy, Competitive Academy, or Performance Academy should attend.

• Are evaluations required for all players? 

  • Yes. All players, including returning players, are encouraged to attend evaluations to ensure proper placement.

• How are age groups determined for the 2026–2027 season?   

  • Age groups will follow the August 1 – July 31 national youth soccer calendar structure. 

• Can my child attend multiple evaluation sessions? 

  • Yes. Attending multiple sessions provides coaches additional opportunities to evaluate players.

• What should players bring? 

  • Players should bring a soccer ball, cleats, shin guards, water bottle, and goalkeeper gloves if applicable. 


Registration & Administrative Questions 

• How do I register for evaluations? 

  • Families may register online through the Technical Soccer Club registration platform. 

• Is pre-registration required? 

  • Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to streamline check-in and evaluations. Complete the pre-registration before the day your player is expected to attend. 

Will I receive a confirmation email after registering? 

  • Yes. Families will receive confirmation and additional evaluation details following registration. 

• How will communication be handled before evaluations? 

  • Communication will occur through email, social media, and official club communication platforms.


Evaluation Process 

What are coaches evaluating during evaluations? 

  • Technical ability, game awareness, effort, coachability, communication, athleticism, and long-term developmental potential. 

• Are evaluations based only on skill? 

  • No. Coaches evaluate the complete player profile including attitude, effort, teamwork, and development potential. 

• How important are attitude, effort, and coachability? 

  • These qualities are extremely important and heavily considered during placements. 

• Can parents watch evaluations? 

  • Yes. Parents may observe from designated viewing areas.


Academy Pathways / Team Structure

• What are the different academy levels?

  • Technical Soccer Club offers Development Academy, Competitive Academy, and Performance Academy pathways.

• What is the Development Academy?

  • Focuses on foundational technical training and player confidence.

• What is the Competitive Academy?

  • Provides higher-level training and increased competition.

• What is the Performance Academy?

  • Designed for highly committed players seeking advanced development and competition. 


Player Development Philosophy

• What makes Technical Soccer Club different?

  • Technical Soccer Club emphasizes long-term player development, accountability, and structured growth.

• Is winning prioritized over development?

  • Player development remains the primary focus, especially within younger age groups.

• How are players challenged and developed?

  • Players are challenged through progressive training environments and competitive opportunities.


Post-Evaluation Questions

• When will players be notified of placement decisions?

  • Families will receive communication after evaluations are completed and rosters are finalized. The communication will be sent within 1 week after the last day of the try-outs. If there are any delays, this will be communicated pro-actively.

• How will offers be communicated?

  • Offers will typically be communicated through email and official club communication channels. Expectations is for families to accept their players spot within 48-72 hours. After the due date has passed, there is no guarantee the position will be available.

• Can players try out again later?

  • Yes. Players are encouraged to continue developing and attend future evaluation opportunities.


First-Time Club Soccer Families

• What is club soccer?

  • Club soccer provides a more structured and competitive development environment than recreational soccer.

• How is club soccer different from recreational soccer?

  • Club soccer generally includes increased training frequency, higher competition levels, and travel expectations.

• What equipment is required?

  •  Players generally need cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball, water bottle, and team uniform package after placement.


Season Expectations

• When will coaches reach out?

  • Coaches will reach out prior to the start of the next season, which is currently planned for the week of August 5th.

• When does the season officially start?

  • The season officially starts the week of August 5th. At the discretion of the coach, practice may start ahead of the official season.

• How many league games are played?

  • There are generally 10 league games played; however, this is ultimately confirmed by the league your player is assigned to.

• Are there any tournaments?

  • The club aims to participate in 2 tournaments per year (one in the fall and one in the spring). Additional tournaments will be communicated and coordinated by coaches. The number of tournaments may vary depending on the team's readiness to compete at that level.

• What league will my player participate in?

  • At the time of acceptance, your player’s assigned league will be included in the communication.

• When are uniforms due to be purchased? 

  • Uniforms are expected to be purchased within the first 2 weeks of acceptance to help guarantee delivery of the uniform set and practice jersey prior to the start of the season.
